Helping Real People with All Their Real Estate Needs
It’s always fun to peek into the lives of the people that you work with; just to get to know them a little bit better and see what things you may have in common, their work style, their hobbies, a little about their background, etc…

Below are some screenshots of a very informative document put out by Lee County Parks and Recreation detailing 6 different dog parks just ready and waiting for you and your pet to visit!
Also, here’s some general information on all Lee County Dog Parks as an FYI reference:
Enjoy!
Until next week… have a good one,

p.s. The home buying season is picking up… ask us about some really great homes on the market before it’s too late and they’re gone!
Well, today I have a real treat for you… my very own personal hair stylist for YEEEARS, Little Joe Micale, has always been a “celebrity” to me, but this weekend on Saturday, April 2nd, you will find him signing his own best-selling book, “Confessions of a Hollywood Hair Stylist”, at Barnes and Noble at 13751 S. Tamiami Trail in Fort Myers beginning at 1 p.m.
This is so exciting!
Little Joe has some really great stories about all of the household movie star names that we know and love… He has had huge Hollywood personalities in his salon chair giving them some of the best hair cuts of their careers (according to them!) and has signed photos all over the walls of his busy Ft. Myers salon, known as “Beverly Hills Hair Design”, to prove it.
His salon’s actual address is 16681 McGregor Blvd. (Kingston Square) in South Fort Myers, but you can also call Little Joe for an appointment at 395-3116 and be sure that you tell him I sent you! I promise you will NOT be disappointed, plus you’ll be thoroughly entertained in the process. Yes, you will thank me later!
Also, if you happen to be heading over to Ft. Myers tomorrow, please be sure to stop by Barnes and Noble and see Little Joe speak about some of his most entertaining experiences, as well as be available to sign his book for you! It’s an easy and fun read, so don’t miss out!
Ok, who’s ready for spring to get here? I know I am!
And what better time to perk up our homes with some easy home improvements than in the spring?
Spring cleaning with some uuuumph!
Lucky for us, Michael Spreckelmeier, President of Progressive Builders, is putting on two workshops to help us do just that…
Tomorrow, Thursday, March 31st from 9am to 10:30am, as well as next week on Tuesday, April 5th at the same time. Both events will take place at the Sanibel Community House at 2173 Periwinkle Way.
The topics will include how to start your planning for any home improvement projects, as well as the top 5 mistakes that homeowners make when planning a remodel.
This looks like it will be great information!
Hope to see your there…
Sandy and Rob
p.s. Real estate on Sanibel Island is picking up… know anybody looking? Send them here please: Sanibel Beach Homes for Sale
It’s that time of year again when great tennis comes to Sanibel Island at the Dunes!
The 19th Annual SCCF Tennis Tournament begins on Saturday, April 9th and runs through Sunday, April 10th with an opening reception on Friday night, April 8th.
Men’s, Women’s and Mixed Doubles are the categories and the deadline for entries is Wednesday, April 6th.
A silent auction will display items for bidding all weekend.
Fisherman…. Start Your Fishing Boats… Ready, Set, GO!
Mother Nature is helping out for the next couple of weeks with the unique combination of spring tides and the full moon… Fisherman are ecstatic!
Spanish mackerel, pompano, flounder, redfish, bass and spotted seatrout are just but a few of the delicacies to be had if you stick your rod into the ocean over the next few days!
You can read all about it and see some great photos over at: Fishing Fest
Well, spring is upon us and there are no lack of things to do, that is for sure!
As our spring breakers start to arrive, the locals themselves can keep busy with some really fun workshops coming up over the next few weeks over at BIG ARTS…
Whether it’s learning a musical instrument, water-color painting or learning Spanish… creating new pottery techniques, dancing jazz, tap or hip-hop or trying your skills at life drawing or play reading… you’ll be sure to enjoy yourself and meet some great people in the process if you stop by BIG ARTS at 900 Dunlop Road, Sanibel.
For a full schedule of events, times and prices, you can visit the BIG ARTS website or you can simply click here: BIG ARTS Workshops
Enjoy and have a great start to your spring break!
Such an exciting month of incredible music ahead of us, as we kick off our nationally recognized classical music festival this Saturday, March 5th, right here on Sanibel Island.
This being the Silver Anniversary (25 years!), there is an amazing line-up of artists that will grace the stage with 7 concerts over the next 4 weeks performing piano, chamber music, recital and vocal ensemble.
Our beautiful annual tradition at the Sanibel Community House located at 2173 Periwinkle Way, where the Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club puts on their amazing Shell Fair and Show every first week in March.
This year is no different and all the fun begins on Thursday, March 3rd at 9am with hours on Thursday and Friday from 9am-5pm and runs until Saturday, March 5th from 9am-4pm.
Between the Live Shell Exhibit, the art and crafts demonstrations and the juried show the judges more than 50 different categories, there is a LOT of fun to be had!
Yes, it’s true, this month “The Beaches of Ft Myers-Sanibel” was awarded one of only 7 Platinum Adrian Awards given out globally per year for its “Destination Advertising Campaign of 2010″.
The Adrian Awards are “the Oscars” of the Tourism industry!
As you can see the TV ad above, it really was well done. The entire campaign covered print, outdoor, rich media banners and mobile/social marketing components and beat out over 1000 entries globally for this prestigious recognition.
No one can say that we here in SW Florida are not trying to beat this recession!
Yes, in just one week, the Second Annual Uncorked Winter Wine Festival will take place!
Naturally, the proceeds are for a great cause and therefore, we thank the Sanibel-Captiva Optimist Club for their efforts once again this year in helping to fund children’s cancer treatment, as well as donating children’s educational scholarships.
Everything is set to begin Thursday, Feb. 24 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Lily & Co. Jewelers (across Tarpon Bay Road from Bailey’s General Store). Obviously, there will be wonderful wines to taste, as well as cooking demonstrations, live music and a silent auction that among other prizes will include a 4-person aircraft tour of the islands.
Tickets are $30 per person ($25 for the designated driver).
Say it isn’t so! Blind Pass is starting to fill in again!
This upcoming Wednesday, Feb 9th at 7pm, a public island meeting will be held at The Sanctuary Golf Club at 2250 Wulfert Road for concerned islanders to have access to the Lee County Division of Natural Resources (those responsible for the Blind Pass Dredging Project) to find out exactly what is happening and what their plans are to maintain the channel open for ecologic, as well as economic reasons.
As most of you know, the Blind Pass project is an ongoing issue, as we are, in fact, battling against Mother Nature, but it is so important for the water quality and improved access to the different bays for locals and tourists alike.
If you are interested in this issue as much as Rob and I are, you will probably want to attend this meeting and get your questions answered.
What was started years ago by our beloved Sam Bailey, who passed away last year, has been re-ignited and is more family friendly than ever!
Of course, we are talking about the Annual Sanibel-Captiva Chamber Community Fair and Retail Expo… the best local business networking event of the year.
This Sunday for 3 hours from 11am to 2pm at the Sanibel Community House at 2173 Periwinkle Way, there will be more than 60 retail vendors, wine tasting, a bounce house and lots of activities for the kids, as well as great food and an emcee + DJ! Bailey’s General Store will be providing the free food and drinks and we thank them!!
This is going to be a great event that you will not want to miss!
Local Businesses, as well as many non-profits, always attend and help spread their success around the island.
Be sure to stop by midday to support our island’s livelihood and show that you are an active member of this community!
Welcome to THE Sanibel Captiva Real Estate Blog’s new look!!
Soooo, what do you think? We’re really excited to start off a fresh new year with a fresh new look and we would love your feedback…
Our team has got a LOT of new things going on this year for our customers and we’ve hit the ground running here in 2011 so far… Whew!
Our web team has been hard at work maintaining the integrity of our past great content about Sanibel and Captiva, while providing a little bit of “familiarity” over there in the right hand column giving some consistency to our readers, so that you know you’re in the right place when you land here!
We don’t want to lose any of our avid readers due to landing on this page and thinking that it’s not still Rob and I here communicating with you, so you will see the same links and photos for your reference… We’ll add to them over the course of the year, but for now, we’ve kept them just the same.
So, this new format has a great (and OBVIOUS!) comment box after every post and we fully expect you guys to use it!
Give us your feedback and constructive comments (and criticisms, if need be) because it will only help us make this blog a better resource for you and everyone else reading it… so comment away!
Well, so much has happened on Sanibel and Captiva this past year that I thought I would do a little recap below to remind us of just how blessed we truly are!
Last, but certainly not least, in December, our very own “Island Home Adventures” Tour Van arrived, which takes all of our clients around the islands in style searching for the home of their dreams! Have you seen it yet? It’s so beautiful…
So, there you have it!
2010 in a nutshell…
We can’t wait to see you all in 2011… It’s going to be a GREAT year!
Happy New Year!
Be safe and have fun… we raise a glass to you, our dear readers, because without you, life would get pretty boring around here! LOL
Well, I thought I would share some holiday cheer (and some definite laughs) this year by sharing a light-hearted video about our beloved “snowbirds” that descend upon Florida over the holidays to get out of that VERY chilly weather up north…
So, sit back and have a chuckle and Rob and I want to wish all of our faithful readers a very Happy Holiday and hope that Santa brings you everything that you asked for…
Until next week… Ho! Ho! Ho!
Sandy and Rob
p.s. What about a new home under the tree? LOL Visit Sanibel Beach Homes to see if it will “fit”…
The SanCap One Source Realty Team has invested in a brand spankin’ new VAN called “Island Home Adventures”, where we take prospective home buyers around to show them the island and the different areas in route to scoping out their new home on Sanibel or Captiva!
This is so exciting and we are having so much fun in seeing our customers’ faces and hearing their awesome feedback after gliding through Sanibel and Captiva in our smooth new wheels!
So, if you happen to see us driving by, be sure to honk and give us a wave, so that we know that you are an avid reader of our blog and that you know the latest and greatest of what’s happening on Sanibel and Captiva… :)
Well, we’ve been announcing this everywhere, all over the island, so I figured that I better make a note of it here as well!
If you haven’t already heard, Rob and I are super excited about an incentive program that we are coordinating with the amazing Congress Jewelers, right here on the island.
We’ve never done this before, so we are truly open to your feedback on just how great this program is, not only with regards to the “luxury” component, but also the intimacy that we hope is implied in searching for, picking out and LOVING something that is very special and personal in your life. Jewelry always gives someone that feeling and what we are trying to convey is that buying a home on Sanibel or Captiva will give you that same feeling, but on steroids!
What can be more personal and intimate than a comfortable home that you fall in love with and purchase?
Do call us for all the juicy details because we are not sure how long we can run this program, although we know it will run through February to be sure, which is our high season.
We look forward to your thoughts!
Have a great week,
Sandy and Rob
p.s. We’re also updating our website… any comments on our OLD website over at SanCap One Source Realty ?
Being animal lovers ourselves, Rob and I wanted to plug the Gulf Coast Humane Society this year for the holidays, hoping that a few of you locally may be thinking about a pet in your future and will head over and “make some dog or cat’s day” by giving them a loving home!
The Humane Society (located at 2010 Arcadia St in Ft. Myers) does such a great job of taking care of lost or abandoned pets and preparing them for adoption, that someone just needs to do a shout-out to them and thank them for their caring efforts…
Goin’ 26 years strong, Sanibel and Captiva Islands continue to delight locals and tourists alike, with one of the most anticipated events of the year – The Annual Luminary Festival!
Starting at dusk this Friday evening, Dec. 3rd, on Sanibel Island (specifically Periwinkle Way), this family-friendly, trail of lights “joyfest” will kick off… with a repeat performance the following evening, Dec. 4th, on Captiva Island (specifically in The Village).
The purpose of this great event has evolved over the years… starting out in the late ’80s as a way to keep the islands in the forefront of peoples’ minds as a “true holiday destination” in between the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday dates, when it tended to get pretty quiet on the islands and local businesses’ coffers got pretty low.
As the years went by, the festival evolved and expanded into a full-blown “excuse” for tourists to plan to be there in order to experience the beauty of the islands all lit up and glowing, in addition to taking part in a real “tight community” atmosphere that personifies locals supporting local businesses and the truest sense of comradery. The islands shine with personality during this festival and show anyone lucky enough to be there, exactly how great it is to live on and be a part of the Sanibel and Captiva “family”.
Three miles of paper lanterns will light the way to beautiful storefronts, live music and great food! Don’t miss out because it really is a once-a-year festivity well worth the wait!
Soooo, apart from preparing all the great recipes I left you last week, are you ready for the “day after” when the shops all lure us through their doors with the best sales of the year?
I know I am! No one knows how to save money better than me!
My problem this year is in the choosing of just the right gift for each person, so as to make it really special and not just something meaningless (and probably too expensive) that has some wrapping paper slapped on it.
I’m going for sentimentality and fun this year… What about you?
How long is your holiday list of people to buy for? Mine’s decent, not too short, not too long…
I really enjoy this time of year… the energy in the air… everyone’s moods are racheted up a notch (which is always nice!) and the anticipation of good food, good friends and family… and good FOOTBALL! :)
So, have a wonderful Thanksgiving this week and some well-deserved time off and I’ll probably see you shopping on Friday!
Enjoy and don’t eat too much,
Sandy and Rob
p.s. Still lots of great homes available, if you, or someone you know, are/is looking… check them out over at Sanibel Beach Homes
