Well, today I have a real treat for you… my very own personal hair stylist for YEEEARS, Little Joe Micale, has always been a “celebrity” to me, but this weekend on Saturday, April 2nd, you will find him signing his own best-selling book, “Confessions of a Hollywood Hair Stylist”, at Barnes and Noble at 13751 S. Tamiami Trail in Fort Myers beginning at 1 p.m.
This is so exciting!
Little Joe has some really great stories about all of the household movie star names that we know and love… He has had huge Hollywood personalities in his salon chair giving them some of the best hair cuts of their careers (according to them!) and has signed photos all over the walls of his busy Ft. Myers salon, known as “Beverly Hills Hair Design”, to prove it.
His salon’s actual address is 16681 McGregor Blvd. (Kingston Square) in South Fort Myers, but you can also call Little Joe for an appointment at 395-3116 and be sure that you tell him I sent you! I promise you will NOT be disappointed, plus you’ll be thoroughly entertained in the process. Yes, you will thank me later!

Our beautiful annual tradition at the Sanibel Community House located at 2173 Periwinkle Way, where the Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club puts on their amazing Shell Fair and Show every first week in March.
This year is no different and all the fun begins on Thursday, March 3rd at 9am with hours on Thursday and Friday from 9am-5pm and runs until Saturday, March 5th from 9am-4pm.
Between the Live Shell Exhibit, the art and crafts demonstrations and the juried show the judges more than 50 different categories, there is a LOT of fun to be had!
I think this is a little off the beaten path of my normal posts every week, but I just couldn’t resist sharing this wonderful little video that truly made my day!

Well, this week I want to let you know that the “arts” on Sanibel and Captiva are alive and well!
BIG ARTS has a lot of great things going on this summer, such as their kids’ summer arts camp which runs weekly through August 13th, M-F from 9am to 3pm for kids of all ages to enjoy… You can check out the details here: BIG ARTS Summer Camp 2010.
There’s also the Sanibel-Captiva Arts League with its open exhibit on display at the Philips Gallery through August 16th from M-F. 1pm-4pm
Have you heard about this website called Moms Like Me?
Well, they are all over the U.S. and we have a pretty active chapter right here on the Florida Gulf Coast. It’s a place for moms to communicate and form community groups of like interests, play dates for their kids and just overall fun-ness through announcements and such. A great idea, to be sure.
I spotted something fun on their page that I thought could be of interest to Lee County kids, and that was a casting call to be held TODAY, Friday July 9th in Ft. Myers. All the details are here: Casting Call
They are simply looking to show kids what it’s like to work in front of a green screen and how to prepare local weather and news reports. Your child could be selected to be a local meteorologist and/or child anchor featured in local programming on channels NBC2 and ABC7.
Don’t worry if you miss the live casting today because the stations will accept your child’s uploaded video casting until July 31st. So check out the detail page above and see if this could be something fun for your child!
